Partnership for 21st Century Skills

I thought the Partnership for 21st Century Skills website is a site that my district officials should take a look at. There is lots of information to show to the high officials that we need more technology and a way to implement it in the classroom. There was not any thing that I disagreed with on the site. I believe that my students do need to work on the three R’s and four C’s (critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration, and creativity and innovation). I really liked the listing of professional development sites. It is great that there are organizations out there who are fighting for this cause.   If you have not had a chance to check out this site I am posting the link below.

I also think that high officials need to seek the extensive 21st skills project at http://www.p21.org/index.php, because school officials and board members are the ones with the power to ignite these changes in our classrooms. The Partnership for 21st Century Skills mentions on their site, “As the three R’s serves as an umbrella for other subjects, the 4 C’s do for other skills.” I personally liked how student outcomes and support systems were displayed as a rainbow of unity, such that each component is dependent of one another. “The coming years will be marked by a flood of new innovation and ideas in teaching, most born from the idea that we can now publish and interact in ways never before possible…Here is where the real learning, and the real fun, begins” (Richardson, 2009, p. 137).

Sadie,

You bring up a very valid point, "...Partnership for 21st Century Skills website is a site that my district officials should take a look at." When I was perusing the site, I, too, had the same thought. I was even thinking I may go so far as to email the link to our governor and senators in Montana. Perhaps that would catalize a P21 initiative for Montana. I am in agreement with you about this being a worthwhile site to share with all who are vested in America's future.

Thanks for sharing your analysis.
